Position OverviewAs BYD continues to expand its footprint in Europe, we are strengthening our financial operations and compliance in Hungary to support our fast-growing business in the region. We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Hungarian finance team. This role is critical in building local accounting capabilities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the digital transformation of financial operations.As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will assist in setting up and managing the local finance function, supervise day-to-day accounting processes, lead financial system implementation projects, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.Key Responsibilities
  • Team Formation and Management: Support the establishment of the local finance team and assist in training and managing junior accountants and finance staff.
  • Audit and Oversight of Financial Operations: Supervise daily accounting transactions in accordance with Hungarian accounting regulations and internal control standards, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Initial Stage Accounting Leadership: Act as the Accounting Officer during the company's initial operation phase, overseeing accounting entries, ledger accuracy, and timely financial statement preparation.
  • Financial System Implementation: Lead the deployment of local financial information systems (e.g., SAP Hungary standards), develop OA (Office Automation) approval workflows, and implement expense control mechanisms. Provide professional support during project rollout.
  • Financial Statement Review: Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reports and monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
  • Audit Coordination: Lead and coordinate year-end statutory audits, tax audits, and other external/internal audit activities.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting Templates: Design and deliver financial analysis reports and reporting templates according to management requirements.
  • Other Duties: Undertake any ad hoc tasks or projects assigned by the direct manager.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Professional Certification: Must hold a Hungarian Certified Accountant (CA) qualification.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting or financial management roles.
  • At least 3 years of experience in medium to large-sized enterprises or manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Hungarian accounting standards and experience with SAP or other ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proactive and responsible, capable of working independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Good communication and coordination abilities, both within the finance team and cross-functionally.
  • Language: Proficiency in Hungarian and English is required.
